Yuzuru Hanyu Survives Two Falls, Wins Gold

Japan's first gold medal in Olympic men's figure skating

19 year old Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan fell on his opening jump and also crashed on his third but was able to win Gold thanks to a world record score in Thursday’s short program and errors from the other athletes.

Hanyu posted an overall score of 280.09 to beat Patrick Chan of Canada, who he made three errors in his performance.
Kazakhstan’s Denis Ten, the world silver medallist, took the bronze.

Ladies short program is Wednesday February 19 where all eyes will be on 15 yr old Russian Yulia Lipnitskaya. Ladies free skating and medals take place Thursday February 20.
