The Sochi International Airport (Russian: Международный Аэропорт Сочи) is located in Adler District of the city of Sochi, on the coast of the Black Sea. The airport is the eighth busiest airport in the country, serving Sochi — Russia’s largest resort — as well as the surrounding area, which has a total permanent population of more than 700,000 people. Sochi is located 996 miles from Moscow, Russia.
|Renovations to the airport in anticipation of the 2014 Winter Olympics are under way including a 3D facial recognition system that uses the geometry of a human face and it is capable of identifying a person while they are walking, as well as with facial obstructions, including sunglasses and hats.
